It influences world elections, manipulates self-confidence, and adds to your business marketing spend. But we’ve also seen social media used to uplift and spread positivity. Countless times we’ve scrolled through positive comments, sweet reunion videos, and heartwarming testimonials. It goes deeper than that though. Places were social media gets to a true heart connection and has the power to bring together people, improve lives, and be a catalyst for social equality and justice.Yancey Red exists because of the good social media does in this world. Before Yancey was Yancey, she was a new mom. Not making enough breastmilk, her baby was fed by Facebook. Over the course of 2 years, she found more than 25,000 ounces of breastmilk on social media, donated by moms who had enough to spare. Through that experience, Yancey started looking at social media differently - how it could be used to move in this world heart first.Forbes reports that it’s not all bad on social media. They cite news alert distribution, traffic messages, and a few other aspects that contribute to helping societies be more connected.Georgetown University published a paper on ways to use social media for good through connection with do-good organizations and, most importantly, truth in factual storytelling (no fake news, people).Yancey Red is taking it to the next level.
